I am assuming by running the dd command the tape drivewill write an "IBM end of file mark" after it has finished writing the file. I am a little confused by so called logical EOF (the ASCII record containig "EOF" chars) and the physical EOF on the tape media. Are there other terms such as EOT EOD etc.
